Puppy Care Tips
Welcome to our Puppy Care Tips page. Here, you will find valuable information on how to best care for your beloved puppy. By following these tips, you can ensure that your furry friend remains happy and healthy.

Proper Nutrition
One of the most important aspects of caring for a puppy is providing them with a balanced and nutritious diet. Make sure to feed your puppy high-quality puppy food that is appropriate for their age and size. Homemade food is the best! If you buy kibble, read the Label of Ingredients: many are full of wheat, corn, and/or soy. Ever heard of grain farmers complain of wild dogs or wolves in their crops?...I thought not. Give your canines mostly PROTEIN products please. Btw, they LOVE leftovers: most types of veg, starch, beans, meats, and well-stewed bones are great for growing pups! But some foods, e.g., chocolate, grapes/raisins, xylitol, and yeast dough, in large amounts or eaten regularly are hazardous to give to your pup, so check online before your fuzzy friend dines on a new food.

Proper Hygiene for Long-Haired/Floppy-Eared Dogs
Grooming your long-haired dog is important for their health, comfort, and overall happiness. These breeds can require occasional brushing to prevent tangles and matting, which can cause skin irritation or infections if left untreated. Aim to brush their coat a couple times a month using the right tools, e.g., a slicker brush or a comb designed for long hair. Regular baths, about once every 4-8 weeks, are also important, but make sure to use a mild, dog-specific shampoo to avoid skin dryness; Dawn dishsoap (i.e., the blue kind) works fine too. These dogs can be prone to ear infections: inside the ear would become red and stinky. Promptly treat ear infections with Doctor Beasley's Ear Bomb or a similar alcohol-based antifungal, antibacterial, antiseptic solution. Nail trimming, ear cleaning, and dental care should also be part of your grooming routine for complete hygiene. Investing time in grooming not only keeps your dog's coat beautiful and healthy but also strengthens your bond and reinforces disciple with your furry friend. Try not to outsource your grooming responsibilities. Pet, scratch, reassure, talk to, and Love your dog often and regularly to establish a lifelong bond of mutual understanding and respect!

Training a Puppy: A Beginner's Guide
Training a puppy may seem overwhelming at first, but it’s an essential part of raising a happy, well-behaved dog. Start with the basics like potty training and reinforcing simple commands such as “sit”, “stay,” or "back it up" while making a reinforcing hand gesture; establishing a routine is important. Pro tip — your dog has excellent emotion recognition cabilities, including reading facial expressions and voice tone, and will generally focus on where you are intensely gazing. Consistency is key—puppies thrive on repetition and structure. Use positive reinforcement methods, such as treats, praise, and playtime, to reward good behavior: an intermitent reward schedule works best. Avoid punishment as it can scare and confuse your puppy; violence can harm the trust you’re building. When you catch a learning animal in a negative act a firm "NO" and relocating it should suffice to interrupt the unwanted behavior. Short training sessions, about 7-10 minutes, work best since puppies have short attention spans. Patience and persistence will make the process more effective and enjoyable for both you and your furry friend. Remember, the time you invest in training now will lead to a lifetime of companionship and good behavior. Mutual love and respect will engender a rewarding lifelong friendship between you and your Best Dang fuzzy companion.
